Star Contracting is a family-run general contracting firm with over 40 years’ experience building Architect and Designer driven projects for discerning clients, specializing in Passive House and carbon-conscious construction. Our hallmark has been, and continues to be, the lasting relationships we build with those clients - grounded in trust, integrity, and shared values.

We believe a successful project is: Beautiful, Comfortable, Durable, Healthy, and Efficient. To that end, our company is focused on Custom Homes, Multifamily Residential Construction, Additions, and Substantial Home Renovations that share those goals. We approach every project with long-term building performance and the well-being of the occupants in mind. We look to Passive House as well as other performance-based building standards like Net-Zero Energy as the path to achieving high-quality buildings that provide long-term value for owners as well as address our energy and climate goals for the coming decades.

Star Contracting is based in Dorchester, MA and serves clients throughout the Greater Boston area. In addition to our General Contracting & Building services, we also offer:

Team

Milo Stella

Michael’s eldest son, Milo is General Manager for the company, coordinating job-site activity on current projects and meeting with prospective clients about future projects. Milo grew up around construction projects and surrounded by classic Boston Victorian architecture, which shaped his passion for the business and attention to detail. Milo officially joined the company in 2008 and is leading Star Contracting into the future of the Building and Remodeling industry. He holds a B.A. in Environmental Sciences and Management from UMASS Boston, a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License (Unrestricted), and is a PHIUS Certified BuilderSM.

John Molé

As co-founder and principal of Star Contracting, John served as Company Manager for over 40 years. In that time he has created a company culture based on enduring client relationships, professional integrity, and respect for the craftsmen that bring our projects to life. John holds a B.A. in History from Marietta College in Ohio, and has lived with his family in Newton, MA since 1979. He is an avid outdoorsman, proud grandfather, and enjoys his summer weekends on Cape Cod with his family. 

Michael Stella

Co-founder and principal of Star Contracting, Michael moved to Dorchester from Norwell, MA in 1970 and quickly fell in love with the diversity of architectural styles prevalent in Boston homes and buildings. His desire to restore and maintain the unique character of these homes is what thrust him into the business and into the community development work he remains dedicated to. After calling Dorchester home for 40 years, he currently resides in Milton, MA.
